Effects and Benefits

What Watsu can do for you

In addition to deep relaxation and reduction of muscular tension, Watsu increases mobility and flexibility, decrease stress, reduces pain and promotes better sleep.
It can help treat a variety of health concerns such as injuries to the spinal cord or brain caused by trauma, stroke, or degenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease; it can alleviate arthritis, back and neck pain, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain states; and mood disorders such as generalized anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder may be assuaged. Watsu can also benefit patients who have undergone surgery and have subsequently developed post-operative pain or have been left with a limited range of motion.
Watsu is an excellent technique for relieving the discomfort associated with pregnancy. It allows the mother-to-be to comfortably float and receive bodywork in a weightless environment similar to that experienced by her baby. More specifically, it soothes back pain, helps reduce fatigue, swelling, leg cramps and gently helps the baby align with the birth canal.
